Paper MoonSTORIES

A little help. A whole new adventure.

How to read
your ebook.

You do not need to be good with technology. Choose where you would like to read, and we’ll take it one step at a time.

Before you start

Your book is in your email.

After payment, we email your download links. Open the message from Paper Moon Stories, follow the link and choose the file you need. These instructions are for ebooks bought from our website bookshop.

Kindle file

The original, larger file with the clearest illustrations. Its name ends in .epub. Use it with Amazon’s web upload or ReadEra.

Kindle email edition

An extra, smaller .epub for emailing to Kindle. The complete story and all the illustrations are still included.

Illustrated PDF

The designed book pages, ready to open in a PDF reader. Best enjoyed on a tablet or computer, with zoom for small details.

Choose one Kindle copy. You only need to add the original or the smaller email edition to your reading app. Keep the other files for whenever you need them. “EPUB” is simply the file type Amazon accepts for your Kindle.

01 · Kindle device or Kindle app

Send your story to Kindle.

The easiest way is through Amazon’s website. You can also email the smaller copy to your Kindle.

You can read using a Kindle device or the free Kindle app on your phone or tablet. Find the Kindle app

Recommended · No email setup needed

Method 1: use Amazon’s website

  1. 1

    Download the original Kindle file

Open the download email from Paper Moon Stories. Follow your download link and save the file named after your book, ending in .epub. For example: An Adventure in Baghdad.epub.

  2. 2

    Open Amazon Send to Kindle

Open Send to Kindle . Sign in with the same Amazon account you use on your Kindle or Kindle app. You can do this on a computer, phone or tablet.

  3. 3

Choose the file and send it

Select your downloaded .epub file. Keep “Add to your library” switched on, then choose Send. Wait for Amazon to finish processing it. You do not need to approve a sender email for this web method.

  4. 4

    Open your Kindle library

Connect your Kindle or phone to the internet. Open Library and use Sync or pull down to refresh. The book may appear under Docs or Documents. Tap its cover to download it and start reading.

An alternative · A little setup the first time

Method 2: email the book to Kindle

You only need to approve your sender address once. After that, you can send future books from the same email address.

  1. 1

    Choose the smaller Kindle copy

From your purchase downloads, save the file ending “Kindle email edition.epub”. It is the same complete story with smaller illustration files, made for emailing. Send one book per email.

  2. 2

    Open your Amazon settings

Open Manage Your Content and Devices . Sign in, choose Preferences, then find Personal Document Settings. Amazon’s wording and layout can vary slightly.

  3. 3

    Approve your normal email address

Find Approved Personal Document Email List. Choose Add a new approved email address, enter the email address you will send from, then select Add Address. If it is already listed, you can leave it as it is.

  4. 4

    Find your Kindle email address

In the same settings, look for Send-to-Kindle E-Mail Settings. Find your Kindle or Kindle app and copy its assigned address. It usually ends in @kindle.com. This is different from your normal email address.

  5. 5

Attach the smaller file and send

Open your normal email app, using the address you approved in step 3. Start a new message to your Kindle email address. Use the paperclip or Attach file button to attach the smaller .epub file, then send. Attach the file itself, rather than a download link or Google Drive link.

  6. 6

Check your email, then open Kindle

If Amazon emails you asking you to verify the request, follow its instructions. Connect your Kindle or Kindle app to the internet and sync your library. Once the book appears, tap the cover to download it. If the email attachment is rejected, use the web method above.

From: your usual email address — the one you approved with Amazon.

To: your Kindle email address — the one Amazon assigned to your Kindle or app.

Make the writing bigger: open the book and tap near the top of the page to show the menu. Look for Aa or text settings. On a Kindle device, illustrations may be black and white; a colour phone or tablet shows the colour artwork.

Make reading your own

Settle in for one more chapter.

Read without Wi-Fi

Once the book is downloaded inside your reading app, you can read offline. Open it once while connected before a journey.

Find your place again

Open Kindle or ReadEra and tap your book’s cover. Use the contents menu to jump to a chapter; the app normally remembers where you stopped.

Prefer the PDF?

Download the file ending .pdf and open it in ReadEra or your device’s PDF reader. Pinch to zoom. PDF keeps the printed page design; the Kindle file lets you resize the story text.

If something gets stuck

Let’s get you reading.

I cannot find my download email.

Check Spam, Junk and Promotions, and search for “Paper Moon Stories”. Check the email address used for your purchase. If it still hasn’t arrived after payment, email us with your order number and we’ll help.

Where did my downloaded book go?

On Android, open Files or My Files and look in Downloads. On iPhone or iPad, open Files, then Browse and Downloads. Check both iCloud Drive and On My iPhone/iPad. On a computer, look in Downloads. You can download the file again from your purchase email if needed.

The book is not appearing on Kindle.

Check that Send to Kindle and your device use the same Amazon account. Connect to the internet and sync. Look in Library, including Docs or Documents, and remove any Books-only filter. Amazon may need a little time to process a file. For email, check the sender is approved and look for an Amazon verification or error email.

My email says the attachment is too large.

Choose the smaller “Kindle email edition.epub” and send one book per message. If your email app turns it into a cloud-storage link, or still refuses the attachment, use Amazon’s web upload instead. You do not need to email the PDF to read your Kindle copy.

ReadEra is not in my Open or Share menu.

Make sure ReadEra is installed. On iPhone or iPad, swipe along the Share menu’s app row and choose More. On Android, try opening the book from Files or look for it inside ReadEra. Menu names vary between devices. If the app is unavailable for your device, email us and we’ll help you choose another way to read.

Do I have to use Amazon?

No. Use ReadEra on Android, iPhone or iPad, or open the PDF in a PDF reader. Amazon is only needed if you want the book in your Kindle library.

Can I share the files?

Your purchase is for personal and household reading. Please do not redistribute, resell or upload the book for other people to download. To send a copy to your own Kindle, use the private Amazon methods above.
